Playoffs will help this, a little. I don't think there should be any controversy this year though.

Nah, Bama is the champ hands down.

Last year was just a fluky year where there was logically no worthy opponent for LSU but a final game was still mandatory. Playoffs won't fix that scenario but a 2004 problem will be avoided.

Who is the only team to beat them statistically this year?

No one can convince me that the NT GIants were the best in the NFL last season, so a playoff in college only opens the door for teams like last year's Bama team who had no business making it to the big game.

The Giants last year is perfect demonstration of why playoffs don't pick champions any better than the BCS. Playoffs are fun and exciting but people exaggerate their effectiveness at getting to a champ based either on season accomplishment or "best team" (eyeball test)

Well, they had more points than LSU at the end of the game and statistically that is a win 100% of the time.

LSU was the better team this year but just didn't get a second chance to prove it.

No they weren't. They lost. And they'd already lost to Florida. And then they went on to lose to Clemson. They weren't the better team, and if you want to take that stupid moral victory "we were the better team according to the stats" line of thinking then we lost to Ole Miss and Arkansas, and hell, probably Auburn and Towson.

By your reasoning then Clemson and Louisville would beat A&M?

My reasoning is that the score of the game was an accurate reflection of who the better team was. And Alabama had the higher score. We weren't the better team and despite how well we played for portions of that game we still lost it, and the rest of our season proved that we simply weren't that good.

LSU beat bama this year.

the refs stole it for Alabama.

Alabama 1 penalty the whole game

LSU 7 penalties

so Alabama should be down 2 games and

no championship.

Also refs stole Florida game from LSU

These are facts sorry.

Playoffs work because it gives everyone a chance at competing for a NC, without getting left out by a biased human/coaches/computer poll. No argument can derail that. The Giants won the Super Bowl last year because they beat every team they played in the postseason, period. End of argument..

Hard to argue that they weren't the best team after running the gauntlet.

Sometimes the best team at the end of the year wasn't the best team at the beginning. I like this aspect of a playoff.

1 , ONE fricken penalty on Alabama the whole game . The refs are proven to be the deciding factor once again. The refs should have a team then they’d be invincible

I'm dumb , you're dumber

No chance. Bama caught A&M right after playing us and they spotted them 20 pts and aside from stupid play calling, Bama still should have won the game. Bama would beat A&M 8 out of 10 times.

The point about the Giants is playoffs allow teams like them who had mediocre seasons to catch fire at the end and become a champ. Which devalues the regular season. I was in the dome and saw the Saints dismantle the Giants by 4 TDs late in the year. And that's our Super Bowl champ?? Well I guess they are, but lets not pretend the Super Bowl champ was either the best team or had the best season.
