Doesnt really work that way. Opportunity and timing is a big part of it.

If this was baseball or basket ball I would agree with you. In football, youre one and done in the post season. Single-elimination. That incurs plenty of sample error. Add on top of it that you have fewer games and a tiny collection of humans deciding the matchups and what you have is potentially the most inaccurate crowning of a champion in all of sports.

LSU should want the easiest and most advantageous path possible if they want that trophy. Running the gauntlet in the process would make it that much sweeter but it also comes with a ton of risk.
