Only reason we went to the nc with 2 losses in 07 was because of the vt game. Playing Oregon could do the same next season.

On the other hand, the only reason VT missed the NC in 2007 was because of the LSU game. Playing Oregon could do the same to us next season.

There are hardly any positives about playing this game

how do you figure that? a season opener against a team in the NC game the previous year on a nationally televised game from jerry's world? that's hi-falutin' pub right there and a damn positive effect for recruiting purposes. also, oregon is a damn good club and so are we. it gives us an opportunity to make a national statement early. a team gets better only after playing good teams. cupcakes don't hack it.

Positive its on center stage and maybe even more exciting then the NC game. A loss for either team does not take either team out of the race.

yup, better to lose early than to lose late. Personally I think we will win this game. Coach Miles will have plenty of time to design a gameplan to beat Oregon. It's like a bowl game, and we all know how Miles dominate bowl games.

I think we win this game but even with a loss with oregon being ranked so high will only drop us a few spots....schedule is so tough that LSU can make up that ground in no time.

You have to be kidding? I can't think of a negative. Hell, even losing in week one doesn't knock LSU out of the NCG picture. A win vs Directional U. does little.

Really? I assume you have been paying attention. Wait until TCU plays whomever for the title next year since they will probably go undefeated. Look at this year as exhibit A. A one-loss LSU was not going to jump TCU. It is clear that what matters most is going undefeated, not who you beat. TCU's schedule strength was something like 75th or so. Didn't matter.

The way I see it, if LSU loses this first game they are already in a serious hole. Makes no sense to me, our schedule strength is ridiculous without Oregon.

It wasnt that LSU couldnt jump TCU with 1 loss and even alot of people thought it would be close...the biggest thing was we lost to auburn so couldnt be in the secg which is big.....Winner of the SECG goes with 1 loss

Also had alot to do with the style of play....Every LSU game was close and TCU was killing people...if you look at the SOS and the other computer voting LSU was ahead...they were even 3 on some computers....what killed us was the human voting of almost losing to tenn, almost blowing a unc lead, etc.

Which is why when Bama lost to USC everyone still had them going to the NC with 1 loss....it was the obvious
