No deal whatsoever...it is all in good fun. In the end, we are all in the same boat, win or lose. Unfortunately, we may be losing more than usual until this guy is gone.
Make no mistake, I have never been a fan of Miles as a coach. He seems to be a great man and I think that is why he can recruit as well as he has...parents want their children around good influences. However, he is simply not a coach worthy of coaching a school that can be what LSU can be.
In being realistic, as this article points out, it is highly unlikey that Miles is fired after the 2009 season. As a matter of fact, I think it is almost impossible. We would have to get blown out in our final two games to even enter into the conversation. Another major gaff like this weekend in the final two games would tilt things some. Needless to say, I don't want any of that to happen.
I actually think we are much more likely to be with Miles for another two seasons than we are to fire him after this one.
With all of that being said, he has one foot out the door. I feel for him in a way because he is simply in over his head. I don't think it is an effort issue so much as a capability issue. If one of us Tiger fans were offered the CEO position at Goldman Sachs that pays about $30 million per year, we would take it. That doesn't mean we are capable of doing the necessary job.

That article lost me with the list of coaches. There is no possible way that Miles is let go this year, so the thought that Alleva would have a list of replacement coaches- and that he would discuss such a list if in fact it did exist- is ridiculous.
I like McKay. He is a good writer and an astute observer of LSU football. But I doubt he has connections close enough to Alleva for me to have confidence in some of the things he says.
Having said that, I think that if the powers that be at LSU think that Miles is not the right guy, then they should let him go at the end of the year. He could easily win 8 games next year which buys him another contract year and gets you no closer on the buyout.
But I dont think that is the consensus among the LSU administration. Up until 3 weeks ago, we were ranked in the top 5. That's just not enough time for a groundswell against Miles to begin.
It will likely be strongly suggested that he make staff changes. And who knows- that might be enough for us to contend in the SEC given the fact that Jefferson will have a full year of experience under his belt.
