Skip Bertman was the greatest and we were blessed to have had him! Say no more! It could be a life time before this is ever seen again, he won 5 National Championships in 10 years. We are all blessed to have witnessed it. Now we are still very competitive, but that is where it ends. Paul has won one Championship in 12 years and the SEC has won 5 of the last 10.
I hope this team wins it all and think the loss to Texas was probably needed. But we are not anywhere close to where we were under Bertman, the Greatest.

He also won it in an era in which teams and programs didn't commit to Baseball

Should Paul have more? Sure. But Bertman wouldn't have 5 titles if he had started when CPM did at LSU.

5 of the last 10 from 4 different schools. It’s not like there is another team winning national championships at a ridiculous clip that LSU is behind.

Skip Bertman and whoever brought him to LSU are jerks. They have made every parent and kid(myself included) into thinking their child is the next Todd Walker or Aaron Nola and we are stupid enough to spend the money to think our kid is. Before Skip we were all football and basketball and we played baseball for fun. Hoe dare him be so damn good at being a baseball coach! lol

Frazier, Polk, Bertman, Augie and even Mike Martin were so great for college baseball.

Dedeaux at USC probably started it all and won twice as many championships as Bertman.

That’s an understatement. I am an idiot for leaving him out.

Dude, you gotta come with something better than this. The guy gave you a thought out response and you reply with nonsense that makes other not take you seriously.

Agree. Some did care about baseball during Bertman’s time, but he is among the six families that cared first (USC, State, Florida State, Texas and Miami). He made everyone else aware, along with Polk/State, that baseball can be profitable.
