The committee is a joke, turning a great sport into trash.

Once again an SEC team could lose everything because they are forced to play a absolute pointless conf. Champ game. Yet a team like Bama can sneak right in, playing one less game. Happened to Auburn, and its SOOO stupid.

Worse post season format EVER!

Just WIN baby!!!

Alabama isnt getting in unless Utah and Oklahoma both lose. Its obvious with the OU jump they want a conference champ in that #4 spot. That's why Utah was ranked so highly, (assuming Oregon would win out).

Baylor is the Utah version on the Big 12.

SO since we got dropped to 2, what happens if we lose to UGA in the pointless extra game?

Are we to the point that we have to talk about, well if we lose, we have to lose a close game to not drop out of the top 4?

IMO if we are undefeated after faggies, we should be in no matter the outcome of UGA game.

The thing I hate is how they trot this dude out every week to answer questions and explain their rationale for these completely subjective rankings, which is what they are. He comes up with complete bullshite week after week as if there is anything more to this than a bunch of people sitting around a room going: “Those guys look really good. Those other guys don’t look as good to me. Yeah that sounds good.” What a freaking joke.

I love how they almost seem to be ignoring our road win over Alabama. Here is a committee that is champing at the bit every year to put Alabama in the playoff, yet the unbeaten team that beats them on the road with an extra week to prepare isn’t given the same benefit of the doubt that they get every fricking year.

How old are you? This is the best format CFB has ever had. Prior to the BCS 20-25 yrs ago the number 1 and # 2 team almost never played in a bowl.

The Heisman narrative will be the next to change. Just wait and see. The media will turn on Joe just like they did on us, and there will be a strong push for Young down the stretch.

A 4 team playoff is better than a 2 team playoff and both are better than the ap and coaches deciding who is number 1 and it’s not even debateable

LSU will either drop to #4 or get passed by Oklahoma.

Lost to a bottom tier Kansas State, OU will not jump LSU if the Tigers loses to Georgia.

The committee is nothing more than talking heads, pipe smokers, and tokens. Bunch of self serving idiots.

For 1 back in the day they had auto tie in to certain games..trash
Bcs wasnt much better.trash
At least with the way it is now you got 4 teams who have a chance.lil better not much.
I say have a 8 team play off with top 2 getting a bye week or having something you you earn being one and two in the poll

You might consider A&M’s schedule - Clemson, LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Auburn all in there. We don’t even Play the toughest schedule in our division of our conference, less in the history of college football.

Theoretically.

The problem is that we don't put the four best teams in the playoffs. We put the four teams that a group of people thinks are the best.

The core of the issue is trying to put the four "best" teams in. That's where it all becomes subjective. We see it every time the committee rationalizes their choices each week. Their logic and reasoning fluctuates constantly. One week they're talking about strength of schedule. The next they say "well, Team A just looks better than Team B."

The goal of the playoff should be to put the four (or eight) most deserving teams in. When you make that the goal, you can actually start putting concrete criteria around it.

That's what the NFL does, and nobody has a problem with it. Could you imagine the clusterfrick if a group of people decided which were the "best" NFL teams to be in the playoffs?
