No you didn't. And no he didn't

You, like everyone else, knew there were more questions with the defense than offense. But he never said the defense was going to be "bad", because I promise you he didn't think they were going to be this bad. Not as good as the offense? Sure. Games where they might struggle? Absolutely. But literally one of the worst defenses in all of college football? Absolutely not!

The disconnect with some of the fans, like yourself, trying to justify these performances and absolve the staff their poor job by saying "everyone should have know this would happen from the beginning" is that most LSU fans acknowledged there were questions regarding the defense. But there is a HUGE difference between not being a great unit relative to the competition and being one of the worst in the country. That failure is even more frustrating given the fact this defense only has to be average for LSU to win games easily. That's it!

What you "heard" in July is being heard through the prism of hindsight. I promise you that while he knew there may be some deficiencies with the defense going into the season, Kelly himself did not think the unit would be one of the very worst in all of college football.
