The commentators on 790thezone in Georgia are saying who are you gonna get if you fire Richt. Are you gonna bring Pete Carroll ala Nick Saban from the NFL? That's the only national championship coach that is remotely available. Firing Les is putting the current defensive scheme and special teams on the block as well. This is the best scheme maybe including the one employed by Bo Pelini. This is the best D-line and defensive backfield I've seen at LSU in a while. I don't want to give that up for an unknown. Alleva should force Miles to fire Crowton at the end of the season and pick the best, most creative OC available for next year.

I was hoping Crowton was going get the axe today - so we could give Gonzales a shot. ??? Looks like we'll have to wait until the end of the season -which is really a shame.

There's no way of knowing he hasn't per se.

Les isn't going to come out and fire Crowton publicly, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was stripped of duties quietly... perhaps resigned to solely coaching QBs... or helping scheme but no longer calling plays.

If 5-0, 3-0, ranked #9 is the laughing stock of college football then people can lugh at me all they want. What's the saying, even bad publicity is good publicity. The most important thing a head coach does in the SEC is recruit and none of our recruits are going to pass on coming to LSU because of clock mismanagement.

We all faulted Miles in the past for playing experience over younger talent, but he gets no credit now for guys like Matthieu, Loston, Ware, Blue and all the other young guys getting playing time. I'm not sure about anyone else but I didn't expect to win a NC this year, but next year our 4 year plan will be back on track. Bama loses their QB, Mallet will be a 1st round pick, so if we can knock off Auburn we're looking good. Why blow that up and lose a recruiting class because the guy sucks at clock management.

if your argument is that he's hamstringing the offense, it's because he has to. Neither of our QBs has the confidence or can be trusted with a huge playbook. Lee gives us the best chance of getting the ball down the field but he also gives us the best chance of turning the ball over. We also have the best spread option QB in the country his senior year in high school at WR. JJ should never run any kind of option. Ever. Those plays should go to Russel Shepard since there's never a pass thrown and JJ should line up wherever Shep currently does. This would at least keep defenses on their toes and prevent them from subbing.

ok kinda went off track there. But the bottom line is that we have a chance to win every game. We have a chance to lose a lot of games as well, but I'll take a chance of winning every time. The mid 90s were no fun when we'd go into games with zero chance of winning and I don't want to go back there. Miles is the third highest profile head coach in the SEC which allows him to bring in all the recruits we need to field a competitive program. If he goes, that might all go bye bye. The defense has turned around after a solid hire in Chavis, let's see what happens after Miles brings in Mike Leach.

And one of the top ranked recruiting classes for that matter.

If Les goes, what happens to Frank Wilson? If Wilson goes... what happens to the recruiting class?

Some will say, "Oh it's worth it for a 1 year hit..." but that will year hit may actually hurt you for 2,3, 4 years. shite, look what happened between Saban leaving and Les being hired. The worst recruiting class we've had in the last decade. In no minor coincidence, those guys were the Juniors and Seniors from '08 and '09...

let's see how this defense holds up against the meat of our schedule before we annoint them the best ever. yes they are great, but who have they gone up against? matt simms, tj yates, larry smith, geno smith, chris relf/tyler russell are nothing to write home about. let's see how they do against mallett, newton, and mcelroy.

based on the way les utitlizes his current players who were part of top classes i wouldn't worry too much about this. recruiting doesn't mean shite if you can't coach or manage a game.

Do you mean having the best defense in the SEC with those guys, or is it the number 1 running back?

one is undefeated as a starter in college and the two others look to have nfl ability (with mallett being a lock for a first round pick this season). doesn't get much harder than that.

i don't know if we have the top defense in the sec. bama and us are neck and neck. like i said let's see how we do against the better offenses in this league before saying that.

i am referring to the 90-120 or whatever ranked offense though that is full of four and five stars. having guys like jarvis landry and kenny hilliard won't be worth a damn if les continues to run the offense the way he currently is.

first you obv do all possible to keep FW, but I'd counter that it's not worth bringing in all this talent when LM is hamstringing the team constantly.

I mean beating a team like UT by two points bc they're team just so happened to be a little more stupid than our idiot.

I don't think it's LM alone thats hamstringing the O. I think the fact that our passing game (not just QB's either) is incredibly horrible. I think he's holding back cause he HAS TO!!!

If this Juco QB is as good as people say, I bet the Hat will open things a little. So regardless of what happens this season, I am giving Miles at least thru next season.

the game and clock management issues will continue though as long as miles is hc. it's doesn't matter who the qb is as long as miles is the hc is. this past saturday he proved he has learned nothing from ole miss and he never will.
