Staff can’t coach, recruit, or evaluate talent

Everyone points to JD5 as the problem but, it’s not. The staff Kelly hired and his approach to recruiting is producing a product on the field that has gotten us embarrassed against every top-25 opponent we’ve played outside of Alabama last year.

You cannot rely on filling positions of need with Syracuse and Southeastern players. You can’t rely on the portal. Jimbo, for all of his deficiencies, does not have talent acquisition problems and will likely have the best D-linemen group in the nation. Texas is taking that next step forward, as well.

It’s insane when you look at teams like Georgia, Bama, Ohio St and think they got their success from subpar recruiting classes and desperately filling in the rest of the positions with mediocre transfer portal talent because they were losing battles to ACC teams like FSU.

LSU has a huge problem with their approach to talent evaluation and roster management. Until that changes, I think the team’s ceiling is 8-4/9-3.

I don't disagree with the things you said but you're comparing apples to oranges.

Jimbo is in 6th season at A&M and they haven't done anything really.

Sark is in his 3rd season at Texas and they just now seem to be getting it together.

Both seem to have a lot more financial support from their boosters and neither took over a roster with 39 players.

You're going to get down voted but the recruiting aspect is especially true and troubling. At Notre Dame, Kelly's classes on average were in the teens, and this year's class is trending in the same direction. That's enough to field decent teams, but you aren't going to surpass Bama and UGA with that level of talent.

Our DL room is going to be extremely thin next year, and Kelly and his staff have done nothing to address it in this year's class. We have one commitment from a 3 star DL. The best DL in the state just committed to A&M, and the #2 player in the state is committed to UF. This staff is getting out worked on the recruiting trail. Kelly needs to come to terms with the fact that the SEC is an arms race and start getting his hands dirty in recruiting. We need better recruiters on the staff as a whole with a few exceptions.

FSU had more talent & not sure Kelly can solve that. LSU is at a disadvantage when it comes to NIL money. FSU had a huge jump in talent from last year & it's due to the transfers they were able to get.

Agree completely. It’s just I’ve been trying tell people who have made excuses for BK’s lack of recruiting that this will show up on the field. A team’s blue chip ratio is real and coincides with national championships. Texas and even OU are out recruiting LSU right now, and it will show up on the field

But they sure can adopt a fake southern accent quickly.

Yeah.. I tried to play that off at first but, it looks worse and worse every time we get blown out by a decent opponent
