murphy, very unproven still besides spring game performances..ridley, made a few nice runs but still relatively unproven as an every down

Murphy was our best receiving back in 07. He was running hard in 09 and I see him being a big part of this offense this year is his leg heals properly. (He's supposed to be way ahead of schedule).

Ridley was our every down back at the end of the year last year. He would have down better too if Crowton didn't try to run every play with him lined up beside JJ in th shotgun. Both of these guys are proven, they just haven't been "the guy" yet at RB for various reasons.

would love to see Stevan Ridley be in that mix

He'll probably start at RB this year. Both he and Murphy are good receivers out of the backfield, one is more about speed and the other is more about power. They'll both be a big part of the offense this year. They will be successful as our o-line this year. That goes for every RB.

hey, i am in no way counting Stevan or RM out of the equation. I'm just saying that we have two VERY talented young guys that may see the field more than previously thought by tiger fans. Not too sure that you can say he is completely "proven" based on a couple of games, but he did show flashes and there's reason to think he will be a great one for us this year(ridley).

Until Ware gets here or Ford gets some of his first pt, Stevan and Murphy are our top two guys. Just dont be surprised if one of the new guys gets a ton of pt this year similiar to what Trent Richardson did at Alabama this past year. They knew they had a stable of backs but TR was just too good not to be on the football field.

We shall see. Fall can't come soon enough

The guy is just talking out of his arse. He truly has no idea what he's talking about.

I get what you're saying.
Another thing that Ware has got going for him is that he will play baseball too. Miles will probably not redshirt him unless Maineri does as well. Graduating in one sport a year earlier than another sport creates a lot of questions about whether to go pro or not.

I think Miles is coaching for his job now. He will play whoever gives us the best chance to win. No since in keeping any horses in the stable for Miles.

I doubt Ware will be red-shirted. Last year Miles had the RB position set to a depth of four and reps were given in each week's preparation based on that . Ware will be needed. My guess is that Ford and Ware will be on the starting special teams (remember Murphy filled that role last year as third team RB) and then make changes based on how the season goes. My guess is that Murphy will be gun shy this summer with this being his second MCL ( that's right ??) but will get a lot of opportunity to shine . He's not getting #18 with Miles planning to keep him on the bench. Ridley disappointed me at the end of last year, not because that he played badly , but that he never turned a bad play into something special. Your best backs will do that. But after each run last year you could see that he would bend over and touch his repaired knee, so it played a big factor in his confidence... which is a big part of running well. The loose turf in the bowel game I'm sure messed with his mind. But this summer he will have no excuse. Ford is going to be the biggest question mark, and maybe too much is being expected of him. But the news I got from this Sat's scrimmage was that Ford and Ridley did equally well with both getting 50-60 yds on 10 or so carries with each having a 15+ yd run. Sounds good, so far.

I know that I'm not going to just automatically count him out of our rb equation just because of the seniority aspect, as you seem to be doing

I haven't seen him perform personally, but from what I hear he may be too good to not have on the field from day 1.

Wasnt the same thing said about RS? Which means they will play him just enough to not get a RS but also not enough to make a difference.

Spencer Ware
who thinks he will get redshirted this season?

<--------------

Possibility that he plays but only if someone gets hurt, doesn't perform well, etc. If Murphy is even able to be serviceable as a backup, then Ware RS's. 3 decent RB's is enough of a stable.

You don't red shirt 5 star recruits otherwise they won't come to LSU.

It happens every year at other schools, talent alone is not enough.

Richard Murphy, with two total knee surgeries, is currently installed as the leading RB.
According to who? Murphy is not even participating in contact this spring. What makes you assume he will be running with the 1's. He may very well earn the starting spot this fall but the starting RB position is not going to be handed to a guy coming off a major knee injury. That is just more rant bullshite. Ridley and Ford will be running with the 1's during the spring because they are the only RB's who will be available for contact. Also, it would be kind of hard to have Ware anywhere on the depth chart since he is not even on campus yet. Why don't you at least wait until fall practice and Ware actually being on the team and learning the playbook before you start with the Miles does not play freshman bullshite.

Amen to this.

Ridley came back amazingly early.

If he was touching it, it was talking back to him.
No one touches a body part for the heck of it.
