JJ has pretty good mechanics
he's got a big wind up which could cause a few fumbles when d ends swipe at his arm during throws

I've watched the GT game maybe 10 times now and this simply isn't true. JJ has pretty good mechanics including great arm strength. I would also venture to say he has a better arm than JL.
I agree. I'm not disparaging Lee's arm or mechanics, but I think his biggest supporters overstate that advantage over Jefferson.

saying he had good mechanics last year is just delusional.
He really needs to compact his throwing motion. His accuracy wanes when he allows that left shoulder to fly open. He's all arm, which shows he got a pretty damn strong one naturally. That said, he'd be much better off working on his mechanics.

panicking and throwing off his back foot still it seems...

Okay... could. I would argue that mobility could mitigate that... but, if it starts happening, I'll be the first to acknowledge the problem (for whoever cares).

I think that's totally bogus. Jefferson got the ball to receivers in tight spots, and certainly while on the move, better than Lee. Also, "mechanics aside", do you maintain that Lee has a stronger arm than Jefferson, which almost all Lee supporters subscribe to, and which I dispute?
What does any of that have to do with a slow release? JJ had a big windup last year. JL had a very quick, compact release.
You can have a quick release and be a bad QB, or a long release and be a good QB. But in general, a quicker release is a good thing.
BTW JJ seems to be one of those guys that throws better on the run than from the pocket. Would you disagree with that?

if anyone still thinks jarrett lee should be the starting QB at LSU only wishes failure.
It looks like even in non contact practice that JL has not gotten better.
imagine when the contact in a REAL game happens...

Doc, hope you don't think I was pimping JL as a starter.
The question on page 1 was, how do JJ's mechanics look?
Then people went on a rant about he was better than JL, instead of addressing the mechanics question.
I'm just curious if his throwing motion is more compact than last year...hope that was clear.

1) There's only like 2 people on this entire board who have ever said that.
2) You gather this from a spring scrimmage you didn't even attend

from practice vids i've seen, he brings the ball back behind his head a little farther than JL does, but he gets the ball where it needs to be getting to, so to speak.
JJ can run, throw, and make good decisions while leading the team.
THAT'S what I want to see from a QB.

I'd be fine if Lee never took another snap. (but I don't think that will happen). What I am rooting for, is for our fans to not be such assholes.

what i'm rooting for is jarrett lee to stop throwing pick sixes, or stupid picks in general, with no sign of improving.
LSU might need a decent backup this year if JJ goes down.

The way our fans have been to Lee has been embarrassing IMO. That guy could def. still turn out to be awesome one day. His mistakes were lack of preparation, that can be corrected.

I for one am hoping Lee turns out to be a fine player at QB. Not only for him, but for the whole team.
Every LSU fan should feel the same IMO.

I agree, but it's not surprising. They were the same way to Jamarcus, who wound up being the #1 pick. And they've been pretty bad to Lafell, who is going to wind up in the top 2-3 LSU receivers of all-time and a 1st round draft pick.

from the vids I've seen, JJ still has a propensity to miss the receiver by 5 yards from time to time.

His ball is more likely to "float" from what I've seen. I'm not confident he can whip it into tight places down by 7 in a 2-minute drill yet.
