This just in...ESPN has reported that LSU is located in Monroe. They also stated that this season, USC will be playing for its 10th consecutive BCS championship.

Actually I am not totally surprised. Many people in other states (especially those who do not follow sports) have no clue about LSU and LA in general.
The other day I was talking to a Turkish friend of mine who was at Los Alamos National Lab (one of the premier scientific institutes) for a summer. He said 99% of the people never heard about LSU. At some point he was so fed up, he started telling people that he was from so-and-so univ. in Turkey, which by the way had more name recognition than LSU
