no you fricking moron, it's not the offenses primary job to tackle defensive players going the other way. is that hard to comprehend for you?
How can the guy that says this criticize anyone else for typing something stupid?
Apparently you believe that if the QB makes a mistake and throws a pick, or if a receiver drops a pass and it gets picked (or insert any other scenerio), is is the job of the guy that intercepted to just fall down.
Interceptions are a part of football. Obviously, you do not enjoy pick 6's. Apparently you do not know how they can be prevented after the interception occurs.

simple explanation:
do I expect picks to happen from the starting QB?
NO.
will they?
maybe.
is it the offenses job to tackle defensive players?
no.
is it their job to tackle them after a pick?
absolutely.
does that make sense?

oh I must have forgotten that the offenses job is to tackle people now.
whoops!
If you ever had any credibility on this board, you lost it with your latest posts. Again, you clearly have never played any competitive team sport.

Not really. Our guys are not just "offensive players." They are "football players." And they should know that when the ball turns over, you bust your arse to make the tackle. However, I am not putting any of the pick 6s on anybody but Jarrett Lee.

WTF? Talk about waffling.

I have, but what does that have to do with anything regarding LSU sports?

no, just common sense.
the main job of the offense is to score points right?

Another brilliant nugget...lol
Interceptions"might" happen? I am no statistics expert, but I am pretty sure that no team has gone through a season without an interception in the modern era of football.
You obviously do not understand competitive sports. It is every players job to do what ever must be done to help the team...and that means the primary job of an offensive player is to become a defensive player following a turnover.
In your zest to continue criticizing JL, you have proven you know nothing about the game.

Of course, and the main job of the defense is to stop the other team from scoring ... glad you're read "Football for Dummies". Read a few more pages and you'll find that if an interception occurs, the main job of the offense is to tackle the defensive player with the ball.

yes, but should a top ten program EXPECT interceptions every game?
wtf brah?
sure, they are probably going to happen.
and I get that if a QB throws one, the offenses job is to certainly chase them down.
HOWEVER - that is NOT the offenses goal when they are in the game

whats the main job of the offense hot carl?
if you haven't played varsity sports though, you can't answer!

This is the most stupid thread I've ever seen on the Rant.
And that's saying something.

WTF are you talking about? Go back to your original post ... you stated that it was not the offense's job to tackle the defender after a pick. Everyone has been arguing with you over that statement and now you change your tune? Sober up man.

:sigh:
yes youre right, it's the offenses job to tackle people
does that make you feel better?

I agree with you, that their main job shouldn't be to make tackles. But you are selling these dudes a little short. They are football players. Very good ones. They are expected to play football. And part of playing football is making tackles if you turn the ball over.
Posted on 3/28/09 at 8:05 pm to Hot Carl
I think a better conversation might be 'do spread-ish offenses lead to a greater potential for a pick to be returned for a TD, as opposed to one which may have players more clustered, for lack of a better word'? But that may be over the rant's head.
