B/c he doesn't know the playbook
Same excuse for TT not playing early, Shep?. Hell, Miles claims JJ is still learning the playbook-maybe we should consider whether it is too freaking complicated, and that is contributing to our lack of identity/stuttering performance the past two years?

LSU has had the No.1 WR coming out of high school in 2 of the last 3 years (Toliver & Randle) yet neither of them can contribute at all as freshman for whatever reason. Meanwhile, all across the country, stud freshman WRs are making HUGE impacts for other teams.
Completely Agree...Julio Jones couldn't learn Bama's playbook as a freshman?
If Crowton's Playbook/Gameplan is too difficult for #1 skill position players to learn (Randle, R. Shepard) then get a new playbook/gameplan. It is not like Crowton can recruit better talent.

did they return NFL caliber upperclassmen at their position(Lafell and Toliver)???
and 2 more SR's (mitchell and RJ Jackson)??
exactly. if RR was starting and making an impact rantards would be complaining that we have to rely on a freshman for offense.

oh, didn't realize this thread had already gone 5 pages.

The reason is plain and simple. Les Miles doesn't coach modern day football like a modern day coach. He is stuck in Bo Schembechler, Bill McCartney type of coaching. You recruit underclassmen, but play upperclassmen. This is who he is. It is painfully obvious he is going to give Charles Scott more carries than Russell Shepard just to be loyal to an upperclassmen who returned for his senior year. Russell Shepard would have made that win against Moo State much more decisive, but he's an underclassmen...I don't care if he's ripping 5,7,8 yard gains against this Bulldog defense. Get his arse off the field now, and put our upperclassmen back in for these red zone touches. I can live with a field goal.
