Would Rick Stansbury be a bad hire? I know some would bitch but the guy can recruit, and we've seen what Gottfried did at NC State in a similar situation and he's recruiting like gangbusters over there.
Anthony grant hasn't exactly lit the world on fire at Alabama IMO. Far below what they have expected and they aren't recruiting for shite. So I question whether a mid major "big" name is the right direction.

YES. He wouldn't be as bad as some of the mid-major flavor of the month hires some are mentioning, i.e. Gregg Marshall, the guy at Murray St., etc., but he is not a good coach.

I don't think recruiting was ever a big problem for Gottfried. And I don't think he really walked into a bare cupboard at Ncsu. Lowe brought in players there too, but were always bottomfeeders.

Have you seen their class? We went to a Final Four with John Brady due entirely to recruiting.

you don't know basketball very well if you think Marshall is just a flavor of the month or a worse hire than Stansbury.

Can we all just stop naming people with LSU "ties" though? Johnny freaking Jones will never coach at LSU. Never. Book it, bookmark it, do whatever you need to do. But there is no freaking way that we hire that guy. Same for Butch Pierre.

I think Hickey is gonna go to WKU and Trent sees that without Ham or Hickey he's got a 13 win team at best next season. He's practically been begging for job offers from other schools.

I wasn't advocating Gottfried, but Stansbury as a suggestion. Just used Gottfried as an example of how a guy like Anthony Grant, despite all his promise, isn't exactly crushing it there while Gottfried is at NC state. Comprehend posts.
