A lifelong baseball and softball coach. Got to be familial right?

Yes, Alex was kin and absolutely loved everything LSU to the core. Was a very, very nice man, quite the gentleman.

He was honored on the opening night of the present Alex Box by throwing out the first pitch, which he in turn gave to be auctioned for scholarships to LSU.

Will miss him, terribly and he leaves behind a terrific family.

LSU's Alex Box Stadium was named for this Alex Box's uncle.

Not Alex Box though, but a former Mississippi State softball player who died of ovarian cancer.

Not sure if he was the first but he won a Distinguished Service Cross (second highest military award) in N Africa and was a member of the Big Red One, he was a combat engineer officer.

Do they mispronounce this guy's name as well and call him Alec or Ellick?
