Basically said it’s a surreal situation, but also said it was ridiculous for the SEC to pretend college athletes are not professionals.
He said he felt it was wrong, but he couldn’t put his finger on why. He also joked that the SEC claimed that there is a bright line drawn between collegiate and pro sports” and said,” no there isn’t. And went on the say many college athletes are now making more than pros.
I was pleasantly surprised at his interview.

He's not wrong. The NCAA/SEC/B1G, etc need to face reality. College football IS professional football. The days of being an amateur, student-athlete and playing for the love of the game and school pride are long gone.

The governing money institutions are the ones messing everything up because they've made so much money over the decades they fear losing that sense of control over the sport. It's like any other system that degrades and erodes over time. This is a last gasp effort to keep the hand in the cookie jar because the SEC knows super conferences are coming which might exclude SEC as an entity anymore.
