sorry if germans but i just saw that since 2005 Miles is 22-21 (51.2%)when trailing in the 4th. The next highest win % is Texas with 18-29 (38.3%) You can argue that he gets us in those situations but damn it if he isn't clutch!

There is no telling how many years have been taken off Tiger fan's lives because of that statistic.

Pretty crazy... trailing in the 4th and we're more likely to win than to lose

After thinking about it for a sec that means that we have trailed in the 4th in 43 games in 9 years!!! That's a lot of games for a school as dominate as we have been in the last decade.

This is a great stat. Thanks for sharing!
The most interesting thing looking back are the 3 games since 2005 when he did not trail in the 4th Quarter (i.e. gave up a lead and went into overtime). 2005 Tennessee (OT), 2007 Kentucky (OT), and 2012 Clemson Chick Fil A (FG at buzzer). Les won every other game where he did not trail entering the 4th quarter.
2008 to 2010 was also a fluctuation upward of those types of games and there have been less in the periods of 2005 to 2007 and 2011 to now. If you cherry pick and held out 2008 and 09, Les is 18-12 in games where he trailed in the 4th quarter, or 60%. In 2008 and 2009, he was 4-9, or 30.7%. Last year was not a good year for these types of games, with Arkansas being the only win.
2005 Trailing in the 4th: 3 wins, 1 losses
2006 Trailing in the 4th: 2 wins, 2 losses
2007 Trailing in the 4th: 4 wins, 1 loss
2008 Trailing in the 4th: 2 wins, 5 losses
2009 Trailing in the 4th: 2 wins, 4 losses

It has been posted a few times
One of the threads whacked though because it was the exact opposite of this one
It was like "for an elite program, miles sure does let the other team hang around late into the game"
Basically instead of giving credit for closing strong he was bashing less for waiting so late to figure out how to beat teams

The question is....Why is he behind going into the 4th quarter in almost 40% of the games he's coached at LSU? Does he not have enough talent to dominate on a consistent basis? Does LSU not provide him with great recruiting tools and among the best coordinators and Strength/ conditioning coaches to be more consistent???

Well to be honest, it's quite the head scratcher for elite teams like LSU has had to be losing to teams like:
'13 - 0-8 in the SEC Arkansas
'12 - Ole Miss
'10 - Derek Dooley's Tennessee
'10 - Houston Nutt's Ole Miss
'08 - Troy
'07 - a national championship team with two losses and 4 fourth quarter comebacks
'06 - Ed Ogereon's Ole Miss against what many consider the most talented LSU team in history
Why is Ole Miss always leading LSU in the 4th quarter?

I just said that about Miles in another thread. It always seems that we are likely to come back. You couldn't have been too surprised by that 4th quarter.
It helps that he recruits so many great athletes. We were still bringing on fresh players while Wisky was wearing down.

First, the 4th qtr is 25% of the game and not a single point in time. Second the sec west has been the toughest division in the toughest conference do despite an elite team law of averages says we are going to be trailing some. Third, defense has been the identity of this team; not offense so typically lower scoring affairs.
