Some people just can't let go of the belief that JJ's performance last year was perfectly fine.
He wasn't All-SEC, but he wasn't bad. Better OL play and clock management, and we are playing UF for the SEC.

Cannot imagine what people are thinking when they log on and see this thread title. Would love to see their reaction at first glance, not knowing that its a bumped thread.

We have a better OL, and the clock didn't run out, JJ let the snap whiz by him. And we are much improved everywhere else. But we still would never play for the SEC this year.

JJ is that reason

Last year JJ was decent at throwing the football but didn't see the whole field and get "the big picture." The pass to Randle in the UNC game was the best of his career, by far and gave me a little hope that he had progressed. Until Miles is committed to getting someone who can develop QB's LSU is going to continue to struggle. Rivers, coming in is a project.

Well, I still don't think Jefferson was "the problem," but to defend him against that charge by saying that his play was up to par for an SEC QB in 2009 is just ludicrous. He was not a good QB in 2009, and even when he was good (such as against Miss. St., Auburn, UNC, etc.), it was being good within the context of a limited offensive scheme.

On the whole, the problem is that the coaches decided to shut the offense down. Once they decided to do this, then putting JJ in as the leader is just sort of accepting mediocrity and extreme limitations within the passing game. Most of the time he plays within the dysfunctional system and manages not to make things even worse than they already are, but once teams start to see his limitations, even this goes away.

JJ is that reason
correct.

But I think we will soon discover that the QB position is still the weakest link. . .with or without Jordan Jefferson.

I hope I am wrong. I hope Lee goes America all over Florida tomorrow. . .After rewatching the game last night, I have lost all faith in the QB position.

What I saw told me we will have to win in spite of the QB.

Or if we can get JUCO's that are already coached up.

I think he was a borderline average QB last year, for a first year starter.

He is a terrible second year starter.

He was 1st string throughout the entire bowl practice part of the season. He played over half the game against Ole Miss. He played a big role in the comeback against Troy. He started playing in games starting with the 2nd game of the season against North Texas.

The assertion that Jefferson should be given slack because he was a "green" player in 2009 is quite possibly the stupidest, most idiotic idea ever propounded on the Tiger Rant.

He started 2 games in the arse end of the season. Played a RP role before that (just taking the snap and running).

Exactly. And anybody who would have asserted in 2008 that RP should (hypothetically) have been given slack for being a newbie would be justifiably ridiculed.

Why? Because of 2 starts in injury relief?

Should Lee have been given slack for Bama and La Tech last year?

La. Tech was one bad let-down game against a poor opponent after being bashed by the fanbase for over a year.

As you already know, I think he played better against Alabama than Jefferson did.

EDIT: And don't forget, Lee never went through a spring or fall practice as the 1st string QB. Jefferson went through 2 of each as the 1st string QB, plus a bowl practice season in 2008.

I clearly don't. I think we win that game if JJ doesn't get hurt.

After multiple previous starts.

The headcase defense can be played either way right now.
