re: Realistic expectations!

Well, I'm not saying it as a negative. I just think Miles' positives and negatives line up quite closesly with Brown. Mack wins consistently (10 games like clockwork), which is highly underrated. But he also has a knack for not winning titles despite always being in contention.
Mack has received a lot of criticism for sloppy play and not getting the most out of his talent, but he's gotten rightful praise for great recruiting and being fiercely loyal to his players. They are also both sort of goofy.
I think both face the same criticisms.

Look, man, my original questions to you:

Can we agree that different expectations don't mean you are "clown"?
Perhaps we should direct some of your "Can we agree" suggestions toward the ""negatiger" world as well or is that an unreasonable expectation
were both tame, as questions go on sports forums, and easy for you to answer.
You not only didn't answer them, but you went off on some tangent bout "real fans.
If you would rather try to place some label on me rather than answer the questions, so be it.
Just spare me the innocent act, ok.
BTW, I would have more than 3

No, my post was meant for everyone, you just selectively decided you wanted it to be meant for someone other than yourself.
Which is fine, superfan. We all acknowledge we are beneath you.

I know where you stand, and because of that I found it ironic. Since I'm considered a Negatiger, I got blasted for coming to the same conclusions that you came to regarding Brown and Miles. It seems that you are willing to give them both a bit of a pass on these issues, as on balance, there W/L records are both so good that they outweigh the other negatives. Is this accurate?
My concern is that it is tough to win, when you consistently do things to shoot yourself in the foot. And more to the point, if you don't have to shoot yourself in the foot, why would you? This type of stuff is easily fixable.

10 win seasons do not mean shite anymore. As far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure others can agree, its a national championship or failure every season. With the talent that comes in year in and year out why should we settle for mediocrity?

All coaches catch stuff from the fans, media, players, and on and on, but this sports fan would kill to have a 128-26 record, 9 straight yrs of 10 or more wins, 11 straight years of being ranked, and a national title hanging on my coaches wall.
Brown is not perfect, but his record at Texas is a damn, damn fine one. imo

I just expect to win the years we have the most talant in the SEC.... Like this year...

At the end of the day, it’s always about winning. No one ever gets fired for the graduation rate and no guy who fails to win gets to keep his job because he’s nice to the staff. Coaching is a ruthless, bottom line business: win or else.
Frankly, I don’t care HOW you do it as long as it’s within the rules. I think the flaws of Miles and Brown are simply tied to their personality, which is what makes them good. I’d rather they didn’t have these flaws, but I also know that every coach has flaws and it’s a matter of learning to live with the negatives because the positives outweigh them. Yeah, Miles has made some poor game management decisions, but his willingness to be criticized for odd calls has also had an extreme benefit: the fourth down calls, the TD pass against Auburn, the onside kicks at odd times… I LIKE those things. I think coaches, as a breed, are far too risk averse. Miles has a demonstrated ability to take risks.
Which is my biggest problem from this season. He was burned horribly in 2008 and this year he was remarkably risk averse. It was like the criticism finally got to him. He needs to ignore it and go for broke again. Risk turnovers and bad plays, because this team was paralyzed by the fear of turnovers this year.

You still haven't answered the questions, Dr Spin, but enjoy the holidays.

Sorry. I am obviously not a superfan like Lonnie. Now he wants his own post highlighting all of my points, he is such a superfan he can't navigate through the other ten to find the answers.

Well it is the Rant, you could post 10 paragraphs where you talk about how great Les Miles is and in 1 sentence say you think he could do this or that differently and that is what they will focus on.
Hell I argued I thought Jefferson had potential and he could be a great QB but was not there yet and was called a Lee lover at one point.
There is no middle ground for many folks on Tiger Rant, they are just as delusional as many Bama fans on SEC Rant.

Yeah, if you ain't praising, you are hatin. Just the way it is around here. No room for objectivity.

Rogertherabbit is one of those here who thinks his crap don't stink. He hops all over the place dropping his turds on people, but don't you dare drop one on him.
Let it go!

i know i know, let's face what ? ..............................it's difficult to be objective about your team ! when they win, you're afloat; when they lose, it's tantamount to being hit in the gut, especially the big ones ! wudaryagonnadoo!

Then how did Bama pass us by like a fat bitch on a scooter? We have had years of great recruiting compared to Saban having one great year, yet they have more talent than us??
