These answers are so in-depth.

That's what I love about the Rant. Everyone will criticize, but when it comes down to answering questions about the actual game being played, no one knows what the frick they're talking about.

If you're not a coach, how do you know what you're looking at?

Arnsparger ran a bend but don't break defense in the 80's. Had success but I don't think he would be nearly as successful today with the same players running it simply because the offenses are much more complex and would eat it alive.

Play the conerback's 10 plus yards off the receiver so they can throw short passes all frickin day long. To play a soft zone so the defense can always have the play develop in front of them but yet we still end up with our safeties in one on one situations.

not really

I would venture to say that we're running man coverage in the secondary at least 2/3 of the time.

what does that have to do with whether or not we are running a soft zone? If we're not running a zone at all, then we're clearly not running a soft zone either.

All i was doing was trying to explain the basic fundamentals of the read and react defense and you take part of my post and criticize it. I didnt say every play is a soft zone but its the philosophy of playing a cushion and keeping the plays in front of you and then reacting to them
