ranking Miles as a coach is better suited on a power rankings basis as in it changes from week to week. Some weeks it's a 9 or 10, others it's a 3.

from the outside looking in...id rank him pretty high...you have crystal...that is something that CMR can't seem to get whether Miles did it with sabans recruits or not...doesnt matter...you guys have the hardware and I would love to have a coach that would make ballsy/stupid 4th down calls....CLM needs to stay in BR if you guys want to keep competing...we are looking at a possible change and the prospects arent out there right now...SEC has the good coaches hemmed up...and CLM is one of em...be thankful and whoever is mentioning Rich Rod is delusional...just my .02....

Football is entertainment, plain and simple, and there isn't a head coach in the country more entertaining than ours. LSU has had more crazy games than any other team I know of. That adrenaline keep me coming back. JMO.

He's an 8, but I don't consider that a bad thing. There are no coaches I would consider to be a 10, and I would be hard-pressed to think of more than 3 9s.

A few short weeks ago the consensus on the rant was Miles should be fired.

I never agreed with that.

On a scale of 1-10 rate your opinion on how good Miles is as our coach.

9/10 - there's always room for improvement but, the big keys-

1.) He hires good assistants (not always, but consistently)

2.) Recruits extremely well

3.) Runs a program we can be proud of, on and off the field

4.) Wins football games and is a big game coach.

All cause him to be rated highly, even though he is definitely not a "guru" coach, who coaches a crazy offense or is a defensive "genius", or whatever.

I have always thought coach Miles was a top ten coach, only nine as good or better.

This is pretty spot on.

This. And inconsistency is the definition of a bad coach.

4 season of 10+ Wins out of 6. Last Year 9-3 could have and should have been another one. He hires a good OC to go with the hiring of Chavis last year, that will jump him up. If we finish strong, win bowl game, finish out strong recruiting class this year, he's a 9.5/10. If not I'd say 8.5/10.

Enjoy the 10+ a year average Tiger fans, we won't see it again, but Tiger fans will run him out of town nonetheless, may already have

He seems like the kind of guy who would want to go out on top to me. If this season continues this way I wouldn't be shocked to see him after next seasons BCS run

The question should be, how do you rate a coach with the best record of any LSU coach. His record speaks for itself, regardless of what we clueless fans think.
