Agree..hell, we had 2 losses last year, and it turned out OK, I guess...
Not like we could have impressed more pollsters or anything.

Most Rantards are just one loss away from "the Catastrophe Syndrome" at all times! lol lol That being said, it would be nice to whip Ga. and Blama....oh, and hope for no slip-ups along the way...ya' know, Troy will not be a walk-over...

I said at the South Carolina game that "our season is dictated on this next play (it was SC's 4th and goal)"...I changed that statement to the outcome of the game, which we fortunately won. A fellow td.com poster and good friend who I sat by at the SC game respectively told me I was overreacting, but I really do think, now, this game with UGA defines who we were for this season and seasons to come.
The bst team we have faced was last week...point blank. That team is not as good as UGA. If we beat UGA we likely are going to be #7 or 8 in the polls. If we lose, we fall to #20. We could lose in a few weeks to Bama and we likely fall out. If we lose 3-4 games, that's not the end of the world. In fact, that's what I call your "average, but good" LSU season...it's what was "good" when I was growing up. For those who want BCS after BCS after BCS, I have two explainations:
1) The peak of the new "golden years of LSU football" was last year vs. Ohio State and we're on a downslide to 7-9 wins seasons for a while. We can always come back up again, but '03-'07 was a nice run with double-digit win seasons 4/5 years...unprecedented in LSU history.
2) We trust in Les - a coach who every opposing fan I come across calls him an idiot. I have faith in this man. I just hope his luck doesn't change. Let's face it...he's had it. maybe that luck will continue tomorrow and even vs. Bama. Maybe we don't even realize that we're in the middle of the peak of LSU's "golden age".
A lot will be learned tomorrow about our program, our coach, and even our fanbase. If we lose, Bama will be the only sellout game for the rest of this year. If we win, Tulane and Troy will be the only games where tickets are a problem, because Ole Miss will face 92,800. I'm hoping for scenario #2!

Even so-called "top 5" programs don't find their way into the top 5 every year. To declare that this year will define LSU as either a "top 5" program or a "top 20" program is, to put it nicely, absurd. In the 10-year stretch from 2003 (your "defining moment" year)through 2013, 2008 rates, and always did rate, to be a "down" year. Sure, I hope we not only beat Georgia, but run the table in decisive fashion. But if it doesn't happen, if we lose 2, or, God forbid, even 3 more games, that doesn't mean the program is in anything other than a rebuilding year with lots of young talent on the field, and a mother lode of talent in the pipeline. The problem with too many LSU so-called "fans" is that they expect national championship runs every year. Not even the vaunted USC manages that. Get a grip.

We've lost 2 games a year for the last 3 years and have been elite all that time. We can lose to Ga. Win the rest and still go to a BCS bowl. I want to win 'em all too, but that's not realistic. There are several elite status programs that lose anywhere from 1 to 3 games a year. Some even have a year where they lose 4. One regular season game never defines a program...especially for seasons to come.
