Thanks. I wasn't sure how that worked.

I have listened to either one of the other in Ponchatoula for years. This year, it is impossible to get the signal. Something seems to have changed for the worse.

You'd think ESPN

The keys for radio reception are power output (which is regulated) and tower location ( which is fixed).
These are very low power stations. One tower (104.5) is in southern Mississippi and the other is south of Baton Rouge (104.9).
So the closer you get to the studio, the further you get from the towers. Very vulnerable to atmospheric issues.
They can not increase the power. It is regulated. They put the feed on the 2nd digital channel of 98.1 ( max power station with tremendous range ). However you have to have a digital radio to use that.

I find it hilarious that the closer you get to their station on government street the worse the signal gets.

I live in BR and have been driving to the North Shore every day for the last few months. By the time I get to Walker, MM 15, it is difficult to hear.

it's poor in Prairieville which is pretty ridiculous. I get 870 better than 104.5/9 there.
That's because, as another poster said, FM is line of sight. AM transmits really, really far. Have you ever heard someone say that they can hear a Mexican AM station at night?
