Preference for defensive staff?

I know the best answer is whatever works.
But personally, I’d prefer a defensive staff made up of a DC with a DB background, a DB coach (rather than a separate safety and CB coach), a linebacker coach, a defensive end coach and a defensive tackle coach.

You need actual good coaches, not just recruiters.

It’s possible to have both. I would have thought in impossible to have neither, but we accomplished that.

A successful active college DC is the only answer. The NFL position coach or DC of yesteryear should never happen again at LSU. The only exception would be a former college head coach who has been a DC in the last 5 years.

John chavis, will muschamp, Dave aranda dc; bo Davis, dline, jamar Caine lb, Corey Raymond cb, Ron Cooper safeties, joe Robinson special teams.

You get a 5th defensive coach unless you want to waste it on a ST only coach or have 6 offensive coaches.
