Small ball. Bunt. Steal. Hit and run. Bunt and run. Force their defense to make plays and let our pitching carry us. Hope and pray we begin to square up some balls.

I agree to an extent. They have got to put pressure on defenses. Home runs are great but shite you can’t continue to go out there and hit fly balls. Hit the ball on the ground and force the defense to make plays. Work the counts. Be aggressive on the bases.

All of this.
But unlike CottonWasKing with his gorilla-ball hard on, WHICH I CAN APPRECIATE mr. Cotton King, I actually like small ball. I love seeing guys round the bases while the defense scrambles like a Chinese fire drill. To me that's more exciting for an otherwise generally boring game like baseball than watching a ton of strikeouts mixed in with a ton of home runs.

This board has spent years, and I mean literally years, saying that all Mainieri did was recruit small/fast players.
Now there are boppers in the lineup, and you are witnessing strike outs and all of a sudden it's small ball time again?
Our "fans" have called for long balls with teams built for small ball, and now call for small ball with a team built for power. BRILLIANT!!!!

Which kids do you want to get fair shots, and which kids do you want to get no shot? Because that’s what you’re asking for when you ask CPM to leave a guy in long term. Someone else, who probably deserves a shot (in fact, according to you, a long term shot) will have to ride the pine.

I'm with you on this Cotton. I like the nukes as well. If Dugas and Bianco were hitting like they did in the fall, they would be playing. Those two along with Hampton turning the corner will have a lot to do with our HR production. If those 3 don't start we have to find guys that get on base and play defense. We still have plenty of power behind them to bring them home.

quote:Agreed, I want to see Gio and Toups get some reps, but I loved the lineup against Nicholls. I will say that Drew needs to have better at bats IMO
I actually like what PM is doing, i usually dont totally agree with his lineup, but i do now. Id keep tinkering like he is doing, but i think toups needs to be in there

All I’m calling for is a way to put the ball in play and score runs.
