people seem to give our special teams a lot of applauding, but our kick return coverage concerns the hell out of me, esp against arky this week. yes, we have great punting and FG kicking and our punt return game is very good. but our coverage has given up points and almost given up more. could this be the differnce in this game?

I've been surprised by the porous coverage by LSU. Seems like at the start of the season, this was an area that was covered pretty well, but as the season has progressed, the coverage has regressed. What has happened? Is somebody missing out there? I agree we'd better shore up the leaks for Arky, b/c we're not kicking off into the end zone for touchbacks.

The worst thing was, when the season started I made the comment that our kick coverage was solid. Not sure what has happened, but they have gotten bad. Hope they can fix it.

Kick it out of bounds on every kickoff. Problem solved.

Our kickoff return game has sucked all year since Dennis Johnson went down. We've rotated a few guys back there and finally decided on a guy...

All I can say is he is fast, but the longest return we've had has been about 65 yards...

Looks like it is not as big as a weakness as you thought

This has a lot to do with Mathieu, Reid, Brooks and Baker playing a lot on defense and when it comes time for kick coverage they have poor effort. When all they did was cover kicks it was maximum effort every kick and now they have to actually conserve that energy.

Contrary to popular belief no player can give max effort on every play. This is why you are seeing more of Barrow and Bryant on kick coverage. They haven't been bad, but they sure haven't been great.

Special teams didn't show against O'll-Piss last week. They had better be on their toes Sat!

isn't that around the time Alfred Blue got nicked up? I remember Les mentioning Blue being down hurt the kick coverage team on that return vs. WV.
