It would be interesting to see how those numbers change when you take out their ace

I did some quick math and calculated a team ERA of 2.16 without Heimlich. This is obviously different than it would be because other pitchers would have split his 118.1 innings over the season, but it's still somewhat interesting. I then took out Thompson's innings and it goes up to 2.297.

The real question is really how good are the team's out west? Oregon State is good, to only lose 4 games in baseball your damn good but what how good is the completion really?

They're also 14-1 in one run games, which is crazy-lucky and I think has inflated their record a little over what it "should" be. A team with exceptional pitching could be expected to do better than .500 in close games, but 14-1 is ridiculous. By comparison, LSU has the same number of games decided by 1-run and is 7-8 (Edit: 8-8 after Florida State).

To be clear, I'm not trying to argue that those wins don't count or anything like that. Just that a team can't expect to win every game that is tied in the 9th over the course of a season, yet Oregon State has pretty much done that.

And we did that in SEC competition. This should be a slugfest gorilla ball game! OSU by those numbers look like shite compared to what we accomplished in the SEC.

LSU has 75 more hits and 100 more runs, and a big difference between PAC 12 and SEC. SEC as a whole scored 1600 more runs total then the PAC 12. You think they can compete as a league against the hitters the SEC has in general

"They say" good pitching beats good hitting.

"They" were right tonight.
