There are dozens of threads just today way worse than this. As least it's dealing with a football game.
You look like you're starting to fall off that fence.

Starting at QB his entire RS Freshman year (before injury) is a pretty optimal situation/opportunity IMO.

and it starts...I think JJ will be the luckiest guy out of them all...He will have the excuse that he was removed from the team....Poor Lee is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't...He WILL not lead us to a NC and in this town, anything less is grounds for being considered worthless...Anyone who has seen Lee start a game knows this...anyone who has seen Lee with happy feet in the pocket shying from contact...Screw the pick 6's...I'm just talking about under SEC pressure...I'm would be thrilled with 2 losses this year...This would be a success with the way this season is starting...All of you that will beat your dog and break things in the house with a bad performance in the Oregon game better prepare yourselves...Our competition is chilling with flat spliffs while we are involved in a full blown media circus with the inevitable loss or likely 5 players for the game...2 of which are key positions...If that is not enough, the inaction of our leadership to make some definitive decisions, to right the ship, has not occured with 9 days left...I'm fresh out of sunshine to pump out of my hind end on this one folks...

Help me understand what is not optimal for a highly recruited QB to be redshirted his first year and then start the next season.

All JJ needs is about three or four more years under the right coach and he could be a great college QB. He has a lot of talent.

but but he is just 21 years old...he is still young

Sorry, I didn't defend your "pet" or anyones little pet. You don't appear until there is a thread about JJ or Lee.

like I said in another thread today...I have no horse in this race. but since you asked I'll try.....didn't he only play one year of high school football? if so, then him being a RS freshman QB in one of the toughest conferences in America with a terrible defense is in my opinion not an optimal situation for any young QB. again, I don't care who starts. It will take us rushing for close to 200yds for us to 1) keep Oregon off the field 2)to help out our QB regardless of who it may be.

Yep, just ask Tenn and florida 2010.

Can't see how a 5th year senior with SEC experience starting a game on one of the biggest stages this year in college football is a less than optimal situation. He has SEC experience, all be it those experiences weren't great, it's there. I don't think there's a huge drop off going from JJ to JLee. Everyone saw in the Cotton Bowl that a quarterback can come out and light up the scoreboard. I hope JLee can come out and light it up like JJ did in the bowl game, but I'll settle for managing the game with minimal mistakes.

That's the life of a backup QB. You come in, in shitty circumstances and make the most of the opportunity.
