I think JMar and the Raiders, with McFadden in tow will be something special in the years to come.

I don't blame it all on Jimbo, just 90% of it

Matt Mauck had 2 300 yd passing games in 1 1/2 years as a starter

Yes, and he never got taken out of a blowout game.

quote:

Rohan Davey had 6 300 yard passing games in 2001 alone.

Yes and we had zero defense. Every game we played in was a shoot out. Saban knew this and opened up the offense. I wish Jimbo would have called games in '06 like he did in '01. If he would have, we would have won the NC in '06.

All of those were with Jimbo Fisher.

Good riddance. Florida St. can have him; I just don't want them to send him back.

Also, you keep touting "Russell only had two 300 yard games," but fail to mention that he was pulled out of 5 games before the end of the 3rd quarter in '06, each of which he was on pace to break 300 yards in the game.

Marcus Randall '03 - 25/40 403 yds, 2 TD's
Flynn/Perilloux '06 - 13/24 143 yds, 2 TD's

Either Randall was much better than Flynn and Perilloux or Mauck spent alot of time in '03 watching mop up duty against ULM, Arizona, MsState, SCarolina, and Arkansas.

The debate about Jimbo Fisher has been argued before, but remember that Florida State seems to have alot of confidence in the guy (In 10 games last year Drew Weatherford had 3 300 yd passing games). And as we have discussed tonight, other QB's at LSU had great success under Fisher. Perhaps we should just accept that fact that Jamarcus had great talent, and was fantastic at times, but he wasn't consistent with that #1 pick talent of his.

Colin Cowherd officially declared Jamarcus Russell a bust on his show the other day. He said that with 2% of Russell's career in the bag, he was able to officially proclaim him a bust.

That just goes to show how concerned the sports media are about being right or wrong. They just don't care as long as they can say something--anything on the air. Silence is their only fear.

Too bad the Raiders will ruin his career.

Couldn't find a way to align the columns, but one good pass to Bennie Brazell didn't make up for his 2 picks, 1 fumble, and one step out of bounds right before throwing a pick with less than four minutes in the game (both no-no's with a lead late in the game).

he tore a wrist ligament early on in that game. He played 1/2 of the 2005 season with a TORN WRIST LIGAMENT

Jamarcus was the most talented QB that LSU has ever had.

That's just an ignorant thing to say. I think that you have to give Jamarcus at least two year as the starter to make a decision.

he completed 70% of his passes and only threw 8 ints all year, while playing 4 top 8 teams on the road against teams with very good defenses. (4 of the ints should have been caught)

we also didn't have a very reliable running games against those teams

Remember...even Tenessee won the year AFTER Peyton Manning graduated. Luck & breaks also play an important part.

Pick the best two games of JR'S career and compare them to Flynn vs Miami and Ohio State. How many turnovers did Flynn have vs Miami and Ohio state? How many did JR have vs Georgia and Notre Dame? Those four games were played at THE Georgia Dome and the Super Dome. Pretty equal settings IMO.

well Flynn threw a pick 6 against UGA and looked terrible. What does this have to do with Flynn anyway?

Also, u think the playing UGA in Georgia is = to playing Miami in Georgia?

Also, JR had a torn wrist ligament in the Georgia game

And how was the running game in 2005 against UGA?

I'm probably in the minority here since I am older than most who would say that JR was "the best" LSU every had, but in my opinion Bert Jones was just as good........Tommy Hodson wasn't bad either.

Well I'll say this! Buddy Songy and others kept saying how much we were going to miss Jamarcus after he was gone, and that we would not realize how much we would miss him until he was gone. I for one did not miss him at all, and I knew we would do better as a team. How the hell could anybody say that Russell was the best QB ever to play here going into the Notre Dame game, when he had never won any kind of championship, or even a bowl game. He was talented, but not the best QB LSU has ever had. Who gives a shite how strong his arm was.

Did'nt start or play in SECCG, though I dare say we would have beaten Tennessee worse if he had, but Flynn did win the National Championship Game there bud, and I'll take that anyday!
