So, that's the first 4-year stretch of recruiting you have listed. After that four years of recruiting, how did we finish on the field?

unranked

Next,

quote:

2006 : recruited.....7
2007 : recruited.....5
2008 : recruited...10
2009 : recruited.....2.....finished # 17

A little better. Moving on...

quote:

2007 : recruited.....5
2008 : recruited...10
2009 : recruited.....2
2010 : recruited.....7......finished # 8

Improvement. Then, the pinnacle:

quote:

2008 : recruited...10
2009 : recruited.....2
2010 : recruited.....7
2011 : recruited.....8......finished # 2

And then right back out of the top 10:

quote:

2009 : recruited.....2
2010 : recruited.....7
2011 : recruited.....8
2012 : recruited...13......finished # 14

And never finished in the top 10 again in his tenure.

From the time he had four full years of his recruits, he had seven top 10 recruiting classes in eight years, his 4-year average was probably top 5 or top 3 every single year, and we finished in the actual top ten only twice during that time. We finished unranked the same number of times.

I don't think that's necessarily reflective of his coaching because I think for at least part of that time our recruiting was overrated. Not in the sense that the players weren't talented, but in the sense that we didn't fill needs and left serious deficiencies in crucial areas, like OL and DL, for instance, and of course QB.
