For many years the bye before Bama, meant giving Saban longer to prepare for LSU. For LSU, it meant an extra week of the Big Cat drill.

It was never more evident than the “rematch” in 2011, that top coaches will be better prepared given more time.

Now that we have, in my opinion, a master planner, we have reversed the advantage of the extra time to prepare.

I’m looking forward to the change.

Big cat drill was solid back in the day

For all the head scratching moments Miles usually fielded a physical team

I just want LSU to come out of this bye firing on all cylinders and kick Bama’s arse. The days of BK’s inept bs are over and I would love nothing more than something similar to what Tennessee did them. If it’s a 1 pt W, fine. But no more of what we saw in 2024 or 2018. LSU needs to win this one. Been too long

I loved them. But, it did not scheme how to offset Sagan’s ability to find a way to gain an advantage.

Well he is 4-2 since 2020 after a bye and those 2 losses were to Nick Saban. Google is not your friend.

Yea our teams under Les were usually very physically tough. He always got in the way with bone headed coaching mistakes though.

Kiffin is in a better position to utilize “his” skills. Coaching can only carry a team so far. Combine the right players, with the right staff, and a great stadium atmosphere, and success is more probable than just possible.

Lane Kiffin holds a 7–6 all-time record against the spread (53.85%) in games following a bye week as a college football head coach.
• Against the Spread (ATS): 7–6 (53.85%)
• Current Context: Kiffin's teams historically hover near even or slightly above water coming off open dates, often utilizing the extra time to adjust mid-season tendencies, though results depend heavily on the strength of the upcoming opponent.
Would you like to know Lane Kiffin's record specifically against ranked opponents or his upcoming schedule out of the bye week?

I read this too quickly

For comparison I guess. This is a very nice record:

Nick Saban went 14–4 in games with extra time to prepare after a bye week during his time at the University of Alabama (an overall college record of 63–13 when including his stops at Michigan State and LSU).
• Alabama Bye-Week Record: 14–4 (77.8%)
• Overall Career Bye-Week Record: 63–13 (82.9%)
• Opponents Coming Off a Bye vs. Saban: Alabama went 31–9 under Saban in games where the opponent had a bye week.
