Burrow was only successful because he was surrounded by NFL talent. But despite his stats, they believe Trevor Lawrence is a can't miss prospect.
Too bad Lawrence's receivers sucked right? I mean just because they were all 6'5" and run 4.4's, they still couldn't catch those precision 12ft high jump balls. Guess the NFL will pass on receivers like that?
But seriously, IMO, I think the telling thing is that the DBs in the ACC and Bama's DBs are average, and allowed him to pile up stats by throwing jump balls. LSU had the best set of DBs he's seen in 2 years. I think most should see Lawrence's inability to accurately complete passes over the middle against tight coverage without hanging his WRs out for a big hit. It should be obvious that Burrow is on a higher level with timing and accuracy at the moment. Burrow is 3-4 years older, so maybe Lawrence gets that down eventually, but for 2 years Lawrence was able to throw jump balls to his freakishly talented WRs until LSU covered them tighter and folded receivers in half when extending high. No more rebounding the Lawrence passes when there's no safe spaces. The NFL receivers won't want to play for a guy who does that too much.
