Actually, they are more like passengers standing on the deck of the Titanic looking at the iceberg and saying, "Hey, Captain! There's a big fricking iceberg up ahead and you may want to adjust your course!"

Passengers: "But don't you SEE the iceberg! We're heading straight for it! This is a good ship, we paid good money to be on it, and there's no reason that it can't take us all of the way if you simply MAKE THIS ADJUSTMENT!"
Captain: "We have a want to make it all of the way, but we charted this course before we left port and we feel that it gives us the best chance of enjoying success".
Passengers: "Dammit! Where's my life jacket!"

I have an SEC contender thought process. Unranked and #17 in the country after New Years day is not representative of a "SEC Power".
Sooooo, you get flagged for having a substandard opinion of, what is supposed to be, an elite SEC team.

Whatever thought process you have lead you to proclaim a NR of 17 in 09 and a NR to this point in time for 2010 of #10 as being mediocre.
Top 20 NR in the polls at the end of a season and Top 10 NR after a 1/3rd of the next season don't equate to mediocre in any rational/objective thought process in the college football world that I know.
