I am an old guy. Wasn't there a regulation related to degree progress, i.e. a two-year student or sophomore was expected to have a certain amount credit hours? My thinking is the portal jumpers joining their fourth team AND university for year four ARE not anywhere on schedule to graduate in four or five years.

I imagine having to consider graduation rates in college sports is so... over.

This is what got John Emery into a 16 month suspension a couple yrs ago. People speculated on his grades but the little specific info that came out was not necessarily his grades but he was short hours on his academic progress. Penalty was the mandatory 16 month suspension. Supposedly he got it caught up and LSU/Emery applied for a waiver and it was denied.

What got me on this was it supposedly was due to Covid issues in his family and everybody got waivers for everything it seemed

I look at it like apprenticeship program. Go to class, go to work, learn on the job. Once you graduate you move on.

If you don’t go to class or make the grade you get kicked out. If you don’t work because of you, you get kicked out.
