Matt Flynn in the Peach Bowl was one game and it wasn't any better than true freshman JJ against Ga Tech last year.
JJ had a great first half, and had actually played and started a game or two before that. But that's just quibbling, I digressed. But the OP wanted us to name a fr/soph qb so I did. For all practical purposes Flynn played very little before 07 and did pretty well that year. I know some on here knock him, but he is a backup to a pretty good one at Green Bay in the NFL right now. I'd like to think that he would have done well had he in fact been the regular qb in his sophomore year. But of course I haven't nothing to prove that theory.

Of course JJ improved this year. The spike in the Ole Miss game was what he was told to do. He had us moving down the field against PSU, the middle screen, which should not have been called because of the risk of not picking up the first down, was followed by a PSU player laying on and fondling LaFell. I thought that the flag was going to be a delay of game on PSU. The announcers even alluded to this. Was this JJ's fault? He did exactly what any coach and fan would want this game: 1) Hit the receivers in the hands with the football most of the game 2) Ran the plays that his coaches called during crunchtime. He ran them to perfection. The middle screen was well thrown. The final trick play to RR was well thrown. What could he have done differently on this drive? Seriously. What?
3) The TD play where he recognized the blitz from the outside LB and called an audible to LeFell. This play showed that he has matured as a QB. I was impressed.
Of course he needs to get better - much better. But JJ is not the reason that we have had these late season troubles - that is GC and Les.
