From the article you provided....

quote:
Based on data from the recruiting classes (2003-08) that have supplied the last five draft classes (2007-11), five-star players go in the first round at a rate of about 1 in 6.5 — that is, one of every 6.5 five-star signees goes on to become a first-rounder — almost 13 times better than the average for all players

The guy clearly doesn't understand this. While recruiting rankings aren't a sure thing they are far better than some dumbass on message board. It's also laughable that they just use nfl talent as if that equates to college production. Tebow is one of the best players in cfb history and he doesn't have nfl talent. There are numerous players that were great cfb players that just don't make it in the nfl and there are college players with average college production that is deemed 1st round nfl talent ( Robert NKEMDICHE for example)

Seriously? C'mon dude. You're exactly the type of person I was talking about. Just wanting to stir the pot with senseless bullshite.

LSU, Florida State, and Alabama all produce a pipeline to the NFL. Sure, there are others and I don't discount them but by-and-large, LSU has NFL caliber players.

And, as another poster pointed out - 3/4 of the NFL is made up of talent that has come from JUCO, smaller colleges...etc. Using the recruiting rankings won't help your case. If you can't see that LSU has that type of talent - then no one can help you.

I agree. This is what I'm talking about. I support the team wholeheartedly but with all this talent they should never get steamrolled like that. Not three weeks in a row. Not ever!

They needed something to jolt their asses awake for the A&M game.

I love the goal post moving. Last year it was our offense isn't producing. This year's it's our offense doesn't have balanced production. I don't even know why I respond to the dumbest poster on this entire site. A poster that does nothing but shite on lsu and does nothing to make lsu better yet demands certain levels of success.
I don't make lsu better either but I'm not talking about what level of success I'll be ok with.
I'm for a coaching change if it is an upgrade. That clearly isn't happening so the constant shitting on the football program does nothing but hurt lsu in the eyes of potential recruits that are reading lsu's biggest message board. It's clear that Miles' coaching and offensive philosophy does not hurt recruiting, so get the frick over it. Miles is here so stop shitting on lsu football just because you don't like him. Good god

We should never get man handled by an arkansas team that is playing our type of game with a lot less talent.

Nor should we get manhandled by Bama or Ole Miss either. Especially OM.

The matter here is...I don't mind losing to Alabama - maybe every other year. A team should hold serve on its own field. But they should never get rolled like that.

I don't call for people's heads....all I call for is a change up in the offensive scheme. Do something different to keep the other guys off balance. The way that defense played for the A&M game - why didn't they play like that in the other games?

Holy shite you know nothing about cfb. Do you know how many programs have finished in the top 15 4 of the last 5 years? Figure that out and tell me top 15 4 of the last 5 is mediocre.
Do you know how many sec programs have finished in the top 15 4 of the last 5 years? Two.
Get a fricking grip on reality and realize that winning just 9 games every year is fricking hard as hell because FACTS prove it.

As you can see, the talent gap between bama and lsu is bigger than the talent gap between lsu and Ole miss. Ole miss rarely ever has a decisive victory over lsu. It's happened once recently. Ole miss has just cycled out of an amazing recruiting class and will come back to earth. Ole miss has the talent to make lsu look bad if we don't play well and that's what happened. They had one of the best defenses in the sec, top qb, and a probable top 10 draft pick at wr. They had legit experienced talent this year.

At no point did I ever say the amount was a fact. I actually said approximately almost every time.
as you can see the lsu website stops at 1965 so I stopped counting there. which is why is a said approximately.

I must be dominating the shite out of whatever you think this is.

As if you actually know anything about the sport of football. All you do is shite on lsu sports. You call top 15 seasons mediocre while numerous lsu players (that will never make a money from football) sacrificed their time, sweat, and in some cases blood to achieve those top 15 finishes. I'm pretty sure these lsu players would appreciate it if you stopped shitting on their hard work when you haven't accomplished shite athletically.

Wow Ricky...so touchy when faced with actual facts. You must not know anything about CFB if you didn't know the correct number.

Sorry little ricky, but it sucks when your rhetoric comes back to bite you in the arse.

Nothing has come back to bite me. I never said the each number was 13 and repeatedly said approximately.
My point still stands. Lsu doesn't have this huge number of of tip 15 finishes so to call a top 15 finish, mediocre, is proving your football ignorance.

And I'm far bigger than you, boy.

Yes, trot out the averages accumulated mostly against teams that we out athlete or out physical. Proves only that our insipid offense works against most teams on our schedule. When it doesn't, the team isn't prepared to do anything different. Watching LF getting stuffed at, near, or behind the line of scrimmage over and over and over and over against Bama did kinda make me want to cry you a river. Probably had that effect on a lot of LSU fans who are sick of Miles' Neandarthal offense. Yes, it's insipid, Bama only had to prepare for one mode of attack. Those averages we built up prior to that game really didn't help much.

You're acting like this top 15 thing is a big fking deal. It's not in the whole scheme of things. Yes it shows some consistency but I'd rather b a little more up and down and actually win something that means something.
