I think I'll wait on more info first.
Something fishy definitely happened, but exactly what, I don't know. I'm not sure what the ripple effects will be, the recruiting details of how the program got into this QB situation in the first place, or what it means for the cohesiveness of the team--but with that said, I seriously doubt that the loss of Garrett himself will have any significant impact on the performance of the offense in future years. I just have a really hard time believing that he was ever any good, although I admit I don't know for sure.
As for Miles's role in all this, I'm just going to give him the benefit of the doubt until the details of the story become clearer.

I thought it was ridiculous when they had people on here saying how great Garrett looked and he would play next year. Jefferson is our QB and will start every game barring injury. Then J Lee will play in case of injury. It's also ridiculous to say Garrett is not any good. We have no idea how good he is? I know one thing investing all your eggs into a QB who is a major league pitching prospect is not very smart either.

nice try. ripple effects are that LSU at BEST has a RS frosh in '12 who's never started a game, at worst, a fricking walkon. Recruiting details are that there a small handful of top QBs each year and LSU signed a good one last yr that is a first rnd baseball draft pick followed by a huge ? in this yrs class. You're right, the loss of the only other for sure scholarship QB on the team for '12 won't have an impact on the future of the program or offense in future years.

But he was a 3 star that went to U High, and he had a scholarship offer.

It's very likely that it won't.

just like having no QB didn't effect LSU the last two yrs. Give me something believable at least

Right. Anybody with less than 3 years in the program is "no QB", but you're absolutely sure that Garrett leaving is a significant loss.
How's this for believable? Garrett probably left for a good reason. I think that the fact that he's leaving the team now (voluntary or not) speaks volumes, although I'll hold off on final judgment until I hear more.
Somehow, I think that when August 2012 rolls around, I won't be the slightest bit anxious about the season and the program because Chris Garrett isn't on the roster. We'll see.

never during the next four years will anyone say if only we had CG everything would be ok.

Exactly. I really do think the craziness on this board is at an all time high.

Never will you hear LSU fans say, "Man I sure am glad we have a walk on leading our team".

They might say I sure am glad Bailey didn't go to UAB, but most likely outcome is that BB will be backup in 2012 and a non-factor.
Talented redshirt freshmen and true freshmen qbs can succeed, see Sam Bradford and old example Tommy Hodson.

Sorry, but when it comes to Miles, "guilty until proven innocent" is the rule of thumb around here.

I just hope we don't reach for a QB this class just to have an extra body. I think we can get a good transfer or JUCO (think Mallet or Cam Newton)that could start or provide depth in 2012...depending on ZLee's situation. We must have a top HS QB recruit in the 2012 though.

We're talking modern day SEC, not the Big 12. When was the last time a RS FR or true FR QB excelled in the SEC?
Those of you saying this will have no effect on the program are simply in denial. If Lee goes to MLB, we might as well not play the 2012 season.

I think Miles has already proven his ability with the JL, AH QB derby.

I don't even know what the hell is going on.....i just woke up and saw this
But i did notice in the main thread that many of the people bashing the coaches were the same ones saying that CG will never see the field in a different thread about a week ago.
But i like how you come out the gates, firing off at the coaches....kudos.

Amazing how much some folks are flipping out over a third-stringer transferring. Did you really have your hopes and dreams pinned on this kid?

I am not a Miles apologist by any means, but honestly if Zach Lee stays a Tiger then this situation isn't really that big of a deal, as long as we get a couple of arms in this Feb.
