Never any fungus? I guess you should never catch a cold beecause you have access to a drug store. The awings above the west press row were what landed on the field and damaged seats, no glass. The grouds crew has a vacume like the one behind the tractor but it's not designed for small hard objects like glass. Stuff like that is by hand. They have already walked that field and are going to walk the old Alex Box and Tiger park today.

Seriously,
A couple of the brigades that they use after the parades could get the field free of debris in not time. Between the vacuum trucks, blowers, rakers, and baggers, the field would be clear in a couple of hours. (Provided the new drainage layers could handle the weight of the vehicles.)

The grounds crew at Tiger Stadium are badass!
if that's the case why did the field get so torn up during the first game of the season? back in the day i had many dealings with the "badass grounds crew" and trust me there were no george tomas working there

The negative pressure of hurricane force winds will pull the glass out – not push it in. You would expect to find broken glass in the stands – and possibly field – not inside the club or box rooms. The glass was probably pulled out in whole sheets, or large pieces, and “exploded” or scattered on impact in the seating area.

They sure haven't been that anal retentive the last few years. If they were, the field wouldn't have had to be re-sodded this year after having just re-doing it a few short years ago.
I agree that was embarassing and avoidable, and rightly in the lap of the muckety-mucks, but that's on the science side. As far as "There's not anything but grass, dirt and organic material associated therewith on the field" situation, and a clean, safe playing surface -- that will be covered.
