Matt has spherocytosis. It makes the red blood cells fragile because they are not round, but are spherical. Thus the low red blood cell count. Unfortunately it is inherited and we keep passing it down.

The same with Cystic Fibrosis. My wife and I were both carriers. No one in either family had the disease. As long as two carriers don't have kids who have CF it silently passes down through the generations. Or two older daughters are fine. There is only a 1 in 4 chance for CF even if both parents are carriers.
