While I'm glad I don't have to dig around on ESPN 8 to find the LSU game, it's pretty clear the most important person in the room when the committee met was the ESPN rep. Makes sense--the NC$$'s largest revenue stream is broadcast rights and they made sure the network had several regionals with "name" schools and programs and compelling story lines to market while packing all the mid-majors together. Just like the CFB playoff--it's not about competition or "bracket integrity," but all about eyeballs!

I don't really know about all that. There is only one #2 seed from the west coast, and that's ucla. Meaning somebody had to travel out west from the other side of the country. LSU was a low 2 seed. May have been out of osu or Stanford for us. In which case, sure, tv might have played a part. Either way, great road trip. I wish I could go.

It's amazing how a large portion of our fan base has a need to find something to complain about.

LSU didn't get screwed, this isn't about money, this isn't some conspiracy theory.

LSU was bubble team, who had to do some work to even make it into post season. They did that work, and then some, which worked them from a bubble team to one of the weaker resume 2 seeds. Weaker 2 seeds should get sent to stronger 1 seeds. 4 of the 8 "stronger" one seeds are SEC teams, which means options were limited.

Just because LSU wasn't sent to the 16th ranked teams regional as a 2 seed, doesnt mean the world is out to get LSU.

You make some fair points but make no mistake, the NCAA is all about the dollar bills.

That being said, when you win you control your own destiny.

So they sent LSU to a regional as far away as possible, with a tiny stadium, that would have been sold out or close to sold out regardless?

No, I agree that getting sent to Corvallis seems a little suspicious but if we win more then we don’t get put into that position.

In any sport, you take it out off the judges/referees/umpires/committees hands.

No, they sent LSU to a regional that both ensures eyeballs for the West Coast timeslot AND adds in the "revenge" factor from the meetings in Omaha last year. Reality TV. This is about as "unscripted" as anything on Bravo or MTV. But yay capitalism. Unless you are an LSU fan who wanted to drive to the game. If you leave right now, you might still make first pitch in Corvallis. Or grab one of those super-cheap 3-day advance purchase fares!
