A lot of upsets would have to happen in order for two SEC teams to get in. There's 4 spots.

Here's the spots in no particular order.

Spot 1: Clemson
Spot 2: Winner of SEC
Spot 3: Winner of Big 12
Spot 4: Winner of Big Ten

Next in line: Oregon if they win out.

If we get blown out, I think it’s likely that we will fall far enough to keep us out of the playoffs. We’ve seen how it works. An LSU loss is usually more severely punished in the polls than Bama is if they lose. If we lose, we have to hope we can blow out Ole Miss, Arky, and A&M, and hope that it’s enough to keep us in the top 5. Now that UF is likely out of the playoff picture, unless UGA drops a game to Auburn or A&M, wouldn’t be want Bama to win the SEC, thereby taking UGA out?

If LSU loses by 1, their playoff hopes are done.

If Bama loses by 100, they are guaranteed a spot after getting to sit home and watch the SECCG.

We all know how this goes. Why start threads like this?

I understand how politics work, and understand that Clemson and Bama get a certain amount of respect for what they've previously accomplished. But I also think who you play matters, and I wish the committee would send that message. Essentially playing a bunch of JV teams in OOC shouldn't be rewarded. Championship teams should be good enough to challenge themselves with quality competition.

Well you must not be a fan of CFB for long. This is the way it has ALWAYS been and always will be.

The bluebloods play by different rules.

We once had a system that weighed SOS and OOC as part of the process. As soon as a blue blood (USC) couldn't make it, that system was promptly changed.

Fast forward a few years later, and the motto was "every game counts". That was, until the 2011 GotC when the blueblood lost, then "every game counts" was immediately replaced with the "eye test".

This is what CFB is. If you can't handle it, don't watch it.

I haven't seen any evidence that either team will get blown out. That would be a shocking turn of events.

That's the thing about performing at a high level. The more you do it the more you have to keep it up. If you don't, you give the critics the opportunity to question whether you just rode a hot streak, played lackluster competition and if you deserve to move on to the playoffs. We can lose, almost everyone loses, but it has to be competitive.

A 1-loss Oregon would get the nod over the Big 12 champ

Maybe. It still doesn't bode well for two SEC teams getting in.

I think a 1 loss Oklahoma or an undefeated Baylor gets in before Oregon.

I forgot about Baylor, but no way Oklahoma gets in over Oregon. The Ducks should have beaten Auburn and Oklahoma losing to K State is bad for their resume.
