Even if Berry wasn’t as highly touted as he is, you don’t redshirt RBs anyway unless they’re hurt. This has been true for over a decade, but it’s even more so today. For a redshirt to benefit LSU (or any school that redshirts their RBs), you’d have to be getting something out of that dude in his 5th year.
And you’re just not gonna be getting anything from anybody that 5th year unless they’ve had an injury-riddled career. If they aren’t good enough to have already left for the NFL, they will have been passed up by more talented younger players or transfers and almost assuredly would have transferred themselves. If they can contribute ANY as true freshmen—even if it’s just on special team—you simply do not redshirt healthy RBs in 2025.
And you’re just not gonna be getting anything from anybody that 5th year unless they’ve had an injury-riddled career.
