While Bama does get a longer break than LSU going into the BCS NC game, there are a few advantages LSU did get.

1) LSU finished its season against 2 top 15 teams. Real competition that forced LSU to play hard, smart, and with passion. Not just going through the motions.

2) LSU faced a stout defense in UGA that plays a 3-4 like Bama and is similarly as large. They also had studs in Jarvis Jones at LBer and a ball hawk at safety in Rambo. This game will immensely help LSU in this upcoming game.

3) They played two very good offensive teams in Arkansas and UGA to help prepare them, particularly in the secondary. Both had very good TEs and backs catching the ball out of the backfield, which should help LSU in preparation for Bama.

4) UGA's OL is massive and it helped LSU's defense by having our last game be a strong workout for the DL and LBers.

5) Bama finished against FCS Georgia Southern and a horrible, and I mean horrible, Auburn team that sucks on both sides of the ball. While the exposure to the option will help a little for Bama, neither game will help prepare them for LSU's OL, WRs and RBs.

6) LSU got an extra week of practice that Bama did not. Less time off, and an opportunity to work on some things and see how they would work against a defense similar to Bama's. Some of the bad offense may be attributed to the fact LSU was trying some things out in anticipation for the NC game and trying not to show too much in the event they played Bama again.

In the end, LSU has a lot of advantages going in, and I have a lot of faith in this Tiger team. Key #1, however, is that LSU may be going into this game the healthiest it has been all season. (Knock on wood)

Too long a break is a disadvantage. Our getting an extra week of practice and playing another game works in our favor. Would it have sucked if we'd lost or gotten somebody hurt? Absolutely. But we didn't, and having been in the SECCG is beneficial to us.

8.) Three games in the past 12 months, in Dome stadiums, on artificial turf, against good opponents.

Here's another. Georgia Southern put up 302 yds on the ground against Bama by going sideline to sideline with the triple option. I don't see LSU going triple option, but I do see them having success on the edges running the option.

I was thinking about this yesterday. Playing AU gives a false sense in the fact that they are so easy to push around. I also believe that Baka is not THAT much better then Georgia. Our strength of schedule is definitely an advantage as it is every bowl game

Has it been talked about? Sure. But most of them aren't being mentioned in the media. Most aren't talking about them on here that much.

Another thing is that our special teams, which were already amazing, have continued to improve. Our punt return game has caught on fire with Mathieu back there.

Good post....It became apparent to me in the first half of the Georgia game that the extra play against a big D was helping us.

Yes, very true. The bigger thing is that while Bama has better talent obviously, particularly in depth, UGA's defense isn't that far off.

Actually, UGA's defense is much more opportunistic. They've gained nearly 50% more turnovers (2.23/game) than Bama's vaunted defense (1.5/game), and played an equivalent schedule to BAMA IMO.

UGA also got more pressure on the QB with nearly 0.5 sacks/game (2.62) more than Bama (2.17).
