Does anyone know anything about how to become an equipment manager for the football team?

i did it 20 years ago. pretty sure it is the same today. as a freshman i volunteered one day a week to work practice. i was able to work the sidelines for 2 home games. you vounteer until a scholarship position opens up. Once your scholly starts it increases every year to where you are on a full athletic ride by 3 years in.

I wouldn't have done it any other way. I gained experiences I will never forget, got to travel around the SEC and didn't have to pay for school.

Was the smell awful? That would be my main concern.

i got used to it over time i guess. but it was only bad in the locker room itself. we spent most of our time in the eq room. whenever i brought guests in, the complaint would be the odor.

You will volunteer for your first year with a chance to be "hired on" so to speak after that. Don't know if it's changed in the past few years but you'll be required for at least a practice and another evening and all home games. No travel. Pretty great experience of you have the time.

Jeff Boss has a "tree" greater than or equal too ANY football coach. His guys are all over the country. Greg S took over for JB when he passed in 2003 and while he (GS) is a bit power thirsty and not always a "nice" guy my nephew enjoyed working there and learned a lot.

Well worth it. Was an Equipment Manager during the dark days and it was still an awesome experience even though we didn't win many games. Jeff Boss was one of the greatest influences in my life next to my father and grandfather. (GS) was on the staff with us and he is a hard worker as does a great job for LSU.
