Jones seems less inclined to stay close based on the few things I've read. But he's pulling one of those BS "I want to go to an acclaimed academic institution" talk to justify it. Not buying it.

I actually like Karviar Shepherd better as a player, and figure we have about the same chance of landing him as we do Jones.
One each of:
Shepherd/Jones
Mickey/Martin
A point guard, like maybe David Taylor.
A junior college post player, like maybe Odoh if he's eligible for 2013.
A shooting guard, like maybe Tai Webster or Delano Spencer.
That would be a strong 5-man class.

I have a feeling this year is going to be rough again so we better land some guys for next. I was optimistic somewhat a few weeks ago but it's looking bleak again to me.

Yes, still holding out hope that the Godfrey news is false, but it's not looking good. That would hurt, big time.

I talked to someone that I would consider in the know and he just didn't give me any news that makes me very confident with the program. Lamented over the timing of the Frank Martin situation.

I have no issues with Johnny thus far. The 2012 class was not on him and he has salvaged it fairly well. Going forward, I am very optimistic.
My pessimism is strictly with the 2012 class and the upcoming season.

I guess I just worry that this will paint a cloud over his tenure at the start and will negatively impact recruiting. I was really optimistic, and just recently have started to kind of get a little down on it.

How would that be different with any other coach? Martin scrounged up a roster at South Carolina that's no better than the one Johnny put together. They will suck as well.

i am more excited about recruiting than i ever was during the trent era FWIW
i was never a fan of the way the hire was made or the behind the scenes politicking from dale and his minions but johnny has put together a fine staff and from a recruiting standpoint they have us in play with a few guys we could only dream of w/ trent. and we actually KNOW about it unlike everything being kept on the down low before.

I guess because he's proven whereas I still don't think Johnny is. Look, I really want success for the program and for Johnny because he truly loves LSU as much as we do. I guess I'm just being a bit of a bitch and worried about it.

No problem. We haven't had anything to be excited about for a while, so it makes sense to be worried.
