A loss really shows you how pathetic our fans are
Don't broad-brush the LSU fan base based off of the comments of a few fair-weather, pessimistic fans on a message board. If you watched that crowd the last two days and over the years, you know that a majority of their fans are the best in baseball. I know most everyone here in Omaha feels that way.

Great post! Many of these pessimists dont understand baseball to begin with. Sure Paul makes mistakes during the game, but he isnt on the field.

I never had a feeling LSU would win this game, even in those extra innings.
Their philosophy and approach at the plate is god awful.

It's ok we are hiring Bob Uecker for our hitting coach next year.

From right field I tried very hard to express how much of a fricking cock lick this ump crew was. They were awful.

The umps were one sided the whole series! Behind the plate was atrocious. Fontenot works his butt off for those innings! Home plate ump gave him nothing!

Just got back from the game. Just want to say that Fontenot was Amazing tonight. One of the best performances I’ve ever seen.
I know it’s been said but had to give the kid credit. Heart out to him...did everything he could.
Great atmosphere at the Box tonight

You could also blame DiGiacomo. He was on 3rd in the top of the 6th inning and got put out for being too far off the bag. At that time there was only one out.
He could have possibly scored (had he stayed closer to 3rd and not been put out) when Cade Beloso had the fly out. We would have ended the game 5-4 in our favor had all other things remained the same.
There were plenty of mistakes to go around but the fact of the matter is, it shouldn't come down to one play or another.
Blues were horrible in this game, particularly the blind home plate umpire.

Oh well I had to raise a Glenlivet 12 YO first-fill cask (yea cask was heavy) to a frustrating & underachieving & sometimes entertaining season of baseball.
Another year of 'maybe next year we'll get a hitting coach and have better baserunning'. Is 'arm soreness' a way of life in college baseball? Maybe we'll be able to navigate that better too.
Looks like Coach Martin was treated well by Tiger fans. Good story for him; kudos to our fans.

Forget the game, Aramark is a complete and utter disaster after last night's baseball experience!

Well, at least CPM got to 40 wins this season, just like MM....
That's something, amirite?

There's an old and very true saying. Players win games, coaches lose them.

Maybe they should get a couple of left handed pitchers

I could hear old Nicky telling his football team...at least we got to the National Championship Game...I don't think that's his expectations.
But, what the hell, there may be 4 SEC teams in the CWS this year and LSU is not one of them, but at least we made a regional and super regional. Maybe next year we can be happy with "well, we almost made it...that darn bubble team team stuff...if only"...
The thing that is frustrating is the lack of baseball fundamentals. Heck, even taking pre-game infield practice FSU looked organized and warmed-up with a purpose...we did not even have one of our catchers out there throwing to bases and fielding throws to homeplate.
As with most sports, if you practice and coach with a purpose the team plays and performs with a purpose. Certainly not winning a national championship is not what is frustrating, it's how the game is played and, more importantly, how the team lacks preparation to win a national championship that is frustrating. There is no how to win awareness and there certainly is not one more thing being done to add one or more additional punches to the arsenal.
Catching the ball, fielding throwing, base running, working pitch counts, being a hitter and not just a swinger of the bat, those are fundamentals that are taught and, most importantly, practiced. Don't practice them 'till you get it right, practice them 'till you can't get it wrong...this is apparently not happening with the program because we see the same fundamental weakness year in and year out.
