you can play and still be redshirted. I believe you have to play a certain amount of snaps. Take this with a grain of salt but 2 things I am sure about is thst he did play this year and he is a redshirt freshman.

no, one snap no redshirt.
Now a medical hardship is possible with a percentage of snaps, but not a redshirt.

Never understand why people come to this board and ask if a TRUE FRESHMAN was falling on the depth chart or was transferring because he didn't play enough.
Know why? BECAUSE HE WAS A TRUE FRESHMAN!!
Most true freshman that get SIGNIFICANT playing time are exception to the rules.

He'll get more PT later in his career. Really good prospect, just has to wait his turn like most players who come to LSU
