you're missing the point. its not about just slapping an Olympian on the cover. like somebody already said, Lolo is the "feel good" comeback story.
I completely understand why the choice was LoLo. What I was disputing was the claim she somehow transcended her sport. That's simply not so.

This. Its great to see her on the cover but who thinks she's so transcended her sport that she would be on the cover of Time in a non Olympic year?
An Olympian is on the cover because the Olympics begin this week.
There are individuals who transcend their sports but LoLo isn't one of them. She's not a Jordan or a Manning or a Shaq. I appreciate everything about this woman, from her choice of universities to her personal choices, but let's not go over board here.

She has the potential to transcend, though. Telegenic, smart, attractive, with a compelling story. She has a chance to be a household name if she plays her cards right, and so far she's making all the right moves.

Also the Austraian girl is probably best in the world right now
Have you seen the video?

That's probably true. If she succeeds in London her compelling personal story could make her the break out athlete of the games.
Subway and Gatorade commercials could be in her future.

...LoLo no longer at her peak ... will be , frankly, difficult for her to medal .. Two American gals are running ahead of her on the U.S. Team , and there is a gal from Australia that is running better than them ...LoLo will need a "breakthrough" performance to do it, just to get a bronze, perhaps . But, you never know, hurdles can be unforgiving in a race-to-race meet. Just ask LoLo herself..It was a VERY tough break for her whacking the last hurdle in '08 ... She had the gold then ... None the less, quite an amazing story for her to work her way back from injury and make the team in 2012. Just MAKING THE TEAM in U.S. Women's Track is quite an accomplishment, as U.S. Women's track has some unbelievable athletes. I'll certainly be pulling for her.

What are you talking about? Sally Pearson will be there unless there's some late-breaking news that I haven't heard about.

i thought we were discussing that one with the video. disregard previous statement

This is the hurdles and anything can happen to a runner. I don't know if she's past her prime. She might be flying under the radar to have people doubt her. I am pulling for her to take it.

That link is a no-no, fwiw.
Thanks, though.
