Let's say the offense is good

Forget about W-L for a minute here. Let's say E and O keep to their word that they are going to stick to the passing game and we have a pretty dynamic passing game in which Joe Burrow shows off his arm and is really impressive. This year's QB class going into the NFL is quite honestly not very good, so it's not crazy to think that Joe Burrow could potentially be a mid-round pick if he has a good season (Danny Etling got drafted). So, let's say he does decide to enter for the draft. Who are our QBs? Brennan would be the clear front-runner to start as of right now, but who is backing up the 6'5 190lb QB? We have the two backup walkons (who I suspect O will award one of them with a scholly at some point). We have Peter Parrish coming in as a true freshman. After that, there's nothing. I could imagine O going out and getting another JUCO/Grad Transfer or even getting a transfer to come in this year and sit out the 2018 season to be eligible for 2019 to either add depth to the position or compete with Brennan for the job. Now, I realize none of this is in high likelihood, but I thought it was interesting to think about. Don't take this as a prediction that Joe Burrow is going to go pro after this year. Just a little what if scenario.

ETA: I originally said that Peter Parrish had a weak arm in this post because someone told me that and I hadn't actually seen him before. I watched a video of him and his arm strength is actually pretty solid. I was talking out of my arse a little there. My bad.

Can we just stop with Burrow to the NFL.
McMillan ought to just declare for the NFL supplemental draft - he would be a steal and could complete to be Drew Brees backup.

Kind of like this hypothetical

When Coach O replaces Belichick in New England who does LSU go after.

You're putting the cart before the horse.

Who cares. I'll just be happy LSU had a good season. We'll let CEO and Ensminger worry about who will be next year's QB. If we have a great season there will QBs lining up to play here.

I don't understand why people are talking about 2019 season before 2018 even starts. shite we got Burrow this year. Did you think we were getting him this time last year? Enjoy the season and worry about next year....idk NEXT YEAR or at least after the season

Man, that's a lot of "if"s. And why does "good passing" automatically = "good offense"? We have pretty serious concerns with the OL and RB position, so it's a good chance we won't be able to lean heavily on our running game like we have the last... my entire life.

You should be ashamed of yourself. I don't know what agenda you have, but making negative comments about a 2019 QB commit should not be tolerated.

If our offense is good, we should win 11 games

It's not an insignificant question.

I started a thread comparing the O hire to Chizik, and to a man every one of the O posters shrugged it off saying oh well he only won because of Cam.

Well, who's to say that even if we do win big this year that O doesn't fall right back on his arse once his transfer QB leaves??

That's exactly what happened to Chizik.

Until O recruits and develops his own guy from HS with his own OC, the jury is still out, right?

Dude is it possible with the first game with Miami 2 weeks out we get some Cane talk going.

All you did was think up something that we might have to worry about!

Get that idiocy out of here. Parrish is a stud and the future is bright with him.

I glossed over this.

What the frick? He's a very solid prospect and definitely doesn't have a "weak" arm.

And Finley has a rocket.

Everything I have seen from Parrish does not indicate a weak arm. Sounds like you made this post negative in nature and tried to cover it up by asking a question.

Parrish highlights. Solid arm strength.

Second highlight is a 47 yard throw placed over the shoulder of the receiver in stride
